What's Wrong with Christianity Today?

This is not a reference to the magazine although we could talk about that later.  Nevertheless, what is wrong with today's brand of Christianity?  The answer is simple and Paul tells us in 2 Thess 2:3 and calls it "a falling away."  But falling away from what?  Paul explains in 2 Timothy 4 in further detail: 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. And Peter as well in 2 Peter 1:16:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables... They have fallen away from the truth of the word of God (John 17:17) unto the fables of the world.  Because they have not known this truth either because they are not really saved or because of false teaching they have followed brands of Christianity that are based upon vain and cunningly devised fables.   So what does this have to do with modern Christianity?  Modern Christianity has "married (Pergamos)" pop culture and politics and the world (1 John 2:15) while famous and influential "Christians" are often quoted in the media as the "voice" or one of the voices of Christianity.  That being said, the world's most famous soccer mom, Sarah Palin-a professing kingdom building Christian, recently told Barbara Walters,"When I want divine inspiration, I turn to C.S. Lewis."  Sarah Palin only stated what is common in professing Christianity today: "We don't want to truth of the word of God, we want to learn about him in the Chronicles of Narnia"; a fable.  The really sad about about this entire comment is that most "Christians" today are so void of the truth that they actually think C.S. Lewis was a Christian.  Pastor Mike Hoggard had an excellent piece in a recent video about the Christian credentials of C.S. Lewis.  Before you watch it ask yourself: just who is that lion in his story?  2011 needs to be the year that we Bible believing Christians, with the help of God, do our diligence to return unsuspecting Christians (and unsaved persons) from the fables-Popery, ecumenicism, multiple gnostic translations, evolution, Calvinism, etc.-and [back] to the truth of the holy scriptures. Amen.

Coincidence or Conspiracy?

In March of 1993 Dr. Bill Grady published his book Final Authority and in the same month and year, ironically or maybe not, Dr. Riplinger published the now international bestseller New Age Bible Versions.  Both of these books were about to blow the cover off the ancient heresies contained in the modern versions while confirming the authority, historicity, and purity of the The Holy Bible authorized by King James and completed in 1611.  October 23, 1995, Christianity Today reported, "Among conservative Christians, a grassroots backlash against contemporary English-language Bibles has triggered a renewed interest in the famed King James Version with its word-for-word translation and its longstanding authority."  With all this in mind, what are the odds that the definitive book against the The Holy Bible was published in this same time frame?  That's right; James White's The King James Only Controversy in April of 1995.  Coincidence?  I think not; especially after doing an etymology on the word con-spir-acy.

More Catholic Influence In New Bibles

We recently posted links to videos about the Popish/Jesuit influence in the new Common English Bible, as well as parts 1 and 2 of a video series documenting the corrupt readings in them on our Facebook page; some of which aren't even true translations of either the Receptus or critical texts.  Nevertheless, let us look at another Catholic heresy embedded in the new Common English Bible.

Sainthood

As you well know, the Popish church uses a non-biblical definition of the word saint to define their acclaimed and canonized saints.  These "saints" become venerable (or worshiped as idols), then blessed, then become saints.  Any Christian living in this dispensation knows that there are no people performing miracles and the NT bever speaks of any Christians that live "extraordinary" lives being heralded above others (this is just a preparation for the coming antichrist who will perform signs and wonders).  As the scripture teaches, saints are those born again believers; a teaching the nicolaitan church cannot have.  So how can this teaching be seen in the Common English Bible?  Lets look at a few uses of the word saint(s) in the NT as see how it is used.

Phil. 4:21
KJB - Salute every saint...
CEB - Greet all God's people in Christ Jesus.

Romans 1:7
KJB - ...called to be saints...
CEB - ...called to be God's people.

1 Cor 14:33
KJB - ...as in all the churches of the saints.
CEB - ...churches of God's people.

2 Cor 13:13 (The CEB here as combines v. 12-13 and moved v.14 to v.13)
KJB - All the saints salute you.
CEB - All of God's people say hello to you.

Jude v.14
KJB - with ten thousands of his saints,
CEB - ...comes with his countless holy ones,

We looked at just these 5 as examples, but if you continue to look at all the usages of the word saint in the NT you will find they are gone.  This allows the heretical doctrine of the Catholic institution to endorse some special status of "saints" above the laity and continue with the deeds and doctrines of the nicolaitans while spreading their influence into so-called protestant churches.  See, we told the counter-reformation wasn't over.

Tips For Bible Study Part 1: Create A Custom

Real bible study is probably one of the most common things that we as Christians struggle with.  For various reasons Christians fail at this and never develop bible doctrine for their own lives and their families.  While the hope is that we are all part of bible believing, teaching, and preaching churches; it is still our job as individuals to have personal time in the word of God to grow our faith (Rom 10:17) and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (2 Pet 3:18).  So for this installment lets keep it simple.

Create a Custom

Luke 4:16 - And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

The first part of having a successful bible study in the Lord is creating a custom.  Jesus had a custom of going in the synagogue on the sabbath day.  This means it was a routine or habit.  There are two basic parts of creating a custom for our personal bible time: a time and a place.

  • Time - Having a consistent time is more important to some than others, but it is still recommended nonetheless.  Although I know we are all busy with work and family and kids, we should always purpose to have a specific time to get into the scriptures.  If we do not, so often it becomes one of those things that we sincerely desire to do, but be fore we know it, it's 1 am and we haven't so much as read a single verse.  Obviously if you are single or without young children this is much easier.  If you do have young children I suggest still setting a time where the husband and wife can either do it together or alone.  It may be something where the wife has her time from 6-7pm every night and in that hour the husband is in charge of the kids, as an example, and vice versa.
  • Place - A place is also important.  Again, it should be consistent.  It should also be a place where you can have the necessary materials readily available.  It is also important that the place have all the atmosphere you need to study and/or read.  Personally, I cannot focus if it is dead quiet; I need noise to help me focus otherwise my mind begins to wander.  So I study in my basement office where I can turn the TV on for background noise or I turn on KNVBC on my computer.  Either way, quiet or noisy, get a consistent place with your desired atmosphere.

Sola Scriptura!

Sola Scriptura!  So many protestant and Baptist groups proclaim this as one of their battle cry's.  Yet is that what they really mean?  Are Lutheran's lying when they say they hold to the 5 Sola's of the reformation and still baptize babies?  The problem and error of Sola Scriptura, 1/5 the protestant battle cry, is not the scripture, but of man's private interpretation or disobedience to the scriptures and not holding to them as a final authority.  This is how we have such heresies in non-Catholic "Christianity" such as Calvinism/Augustinism, Covenant Theology, Bible agnosticism, real presence, amillenialism, and tongue speaking.  This cartoon is what they really mean.

Prophecy or Common Sense?

In 1857 J.C. Philpot said: "To alter the Authorized Version would unsettle the minds of thousands as to which bible was the word of God.  There would be two bibles spread throughout the land and what confusion that would create in almost every place.  If the new translation were once to begin, where would it end?  The Socinians would strike 'God' out of 1 Timothy 3:16 and strike out 1 John 5:7-8 as an interpolation..."

Little did Mr. Philpot know what he said in 1857 would be the truth in 2010.  There really are only two bibles: the Authorized Version and those based upon the corrupt critical text.  Has it caused confusion in the Body of Christ?  Without question.  What about the corrupted reading of 1 Tim 3:16 and the most attacked verse of the New Testament 1 John 5:7-8 in the modern versions?  Let's not even go there...

About That Authorized Version....

  1. The Authorized Version of the English Bible is the best example of English literature that the world has ever seen. (For this reason alone every Christian and every public school student should have to read the AV.)
  2. Everyone who has a thorough knowledge of it may truly be called 'educated.'  No other culture on earth can form a proper substitute. (Maybe this is why the Bible was the main textbook used for years in American public schools to teach reading and grammar.)
  3. We Anglo-Saxons have a better Bible than the French or the Germans or the Italians, or the Spanish.  Our English Bible is even better than the original Hebrew and Greek. (Clearly, Mr. Phelps would not be considered a reputable scholar today, since no "reputable" scholar would believe that you can correct the Greek with the English; only heretics like Peter Ruckman.  Sounds kind of like a UC Berkeley scientist I heard say that no "reputable" scholars believe in creation.)
  4. There is only one way to explain this...I am confident that the Authorized Version was inspired. (Wait...doesn't he know that's double inspiration?)
You might think that these four points come from a modern-day AV defender: Dr. Riplinger, Peter Ruckman, or Sam Gipp.  But if you thought that, you would be wrong.  These four points were stated by William Lyon Phelps in 1922 printed in a book titled Human Nature in the Bible.  Mr. Phelps was Lampson Professor of English Literature at Yale University.

King James Bible Quotes

Just a quick thought: have you noticed that when even some anti-KJB people quote scripture from memory, they use the Authorized Version's reading?  I just finished listening to a 30+ minute commentary on a particular issue dealing with the Roman Catholic organization by a person that is anti-KJB and every time he quoted a verse (it was from memory as he didn't have a Bible in front of him) he used the King James reading: Gen 3:15, John 3:16, Romans 5:1 and others.  Isn't that a bit strange?  Maybe not, but I don't think I have ever heard anyone quote John 3:16 from the ESV or NIV.

Video Review: "King James Only?...The Final Word" Part 5 Finale

  • 21:21 - Now the woman begins a diatribe about what God is and is not interested in; and she concludes that God is not interested in doctrine.  This comment really shows the stupidity of the entire video.  Clearly the woman never read Romans 16:17; how can we mark them and avoid them which cause divisions contrary to doctrine if doctrine doesn't matter?  Why would Paul keep Timothy in Ephesus so he could make sure that they teach no other doctrine (1 Tim 1:3) if doctrine doesn't matter?  Has she not read 2 John 1:9-10?  If doctrine doesn't matter why does the Lord hold it against the church at Pergamos for holding the doctrine of Balaam and the doctrine of the Nicolaitans if doctrine doesn't matter?  But never mind the scriptures, doctrine doesn't matter.
  • 21:50 - Here she begins a common but clearly naive and ignorant view that the differences (she admits there are differences, probably without realizing it) between the KJB and the modern versions aren't so great that we can't understand the basics.  One has to be able to see the humanism and apostate scholarship thinking all over that comment: the basics?  What are the basics of Christianity?  Who decides what the basics are?  By saying the basics is she admitting that the non-basics have been removed?
  • 25:10 - This is one of the most unbelievable tactics you can pull; because the Mormons use the KJB (I use the word use very loosely) that KJV Onlyists are to be compared to that cult.  Wow. This would be shocking if I hadn't heard this from a Baptist pastor who hinted at this same thing in a blog post.  She goes on to say that some girl she knew that used to be a mormon got saved after she disobeyed rules and read another version bible in Galatians 1:1-9 and converted to "true" Christianity.  Problem: isn't Galatians 1:1-9 in the KJB? Uh...yeah.  So if this girl, if she even exists, had read that passage in the KJB and believed it would not the same result have been possible?
  • 30:40 - King James Onlyists are Pharisees.  I'm not even going to touch this one.

Prayer Request and Interesting Finding

First I would ask for prayers.  Recently my mother in law, who is a Roman Catholic, approached my wife, who is a former Roman Catholic, about having a conversation with me about why we only use the King James Bible.  The topic came about because she noticed that the KJB was not on the list of approved translations on whatever Catholic website she was viewing.  Nevertheless, their conversation progressed past that issue and onto general Baptist doctrine and why we only follow the Bible.  So I think the conversation may be much more than a quick exposition of why the KJB.  It is also good to know that my mother in-law is not a "no salvation outside the Church", pre-Vatican II Catholic.  She described herself as "Catholic by convenience."  So I feel that there is a real opportunity to start working on her and start to turn her toward the simplicity that is in Christ and away from the system of Popery since lots of the presuppositions of Catholicism do not exist in her mind.  So, please say a quick prayer when you have time and think about it that the Holy Ghost would guide our conversation and especially my words.

Interestingly enough, I was doing some scripture comparison between the KJB and the New Jerusalem Bible, which my mother in-law uses, in preparation for our conversation.  And as I searched some Catholic websites I came across a very ironic issue amongst Catholics: Douay-Rheims Onlyism.  That's right, no joking: Douay-Rheims Onlyism.  I am familiar with the major split amongst the pre and post-Vatican II Catholics, but I had no idea that there was this issue as well; which must be divided amongst those same lines.  Isn't that ironic?  I guess I will wait for James White's sequel to The King James Only Controversy; The Douay-Rheims Only Controversy! ;)

Just A Little History

We often forget our heritage, both in the United States and as Baptists.  But here is a quote from Thomas Jefferson (taken from Story of the Baptists); just notice how close America was to becoming a protestant theocracy, either at the state level or the federal level.

"There was a hope confidentially cherished, about A.D. 1780, that there might be a State church throughout the United States, and this expectation was specially cherished by Episcopalians and Congregationalists.  John Adams believed in leaving the matter to the States, each State having its own establishment.  This design it was the work of the Baptists to frustrate.  They did not want the Constitution of the United States, nor of any State, to be made a religious creed, but they were determined to have religious liberty for themselves and all the world."

Revelation 17 with Visual

1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither ; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: 2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication , and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5 And upon her forehead was a name written , MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. 7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel ? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. 8 The beast that thou sawest was , and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder , whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was , and is not, and yet is . 9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth . 10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen , and one is , and the other is not yet come ; and when he cometh , he must continue a short space. 11 And the beast that was , and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. 12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. 14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. 15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest , where the whore sitteth , are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. 17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree , and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled . 18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Lies in the Bible

Are there lies in the bible?  Yes: the Bible records lies told by men.  Some of these lies are not only found in the text, but in the preface.  Here is a picture of an RSV that I found in my local public library; pay attention to the first paragraph.  Here are a few questions to think about:

  • Who authorized the revision of the ASV?  Better yet, who authorized the ASV itself?  Even better, who authorized the revision of the Authorized Bible?  A king?  The Body of Christ? Or Romans 1:22 scholars?
  • Why has the ASV been revised so many times? ASV has been revised by the RSV which was revised by the NRSV (which also comes with a Catholic Edition).  The ASV has also been revised by the NASV.  The ESV is a revision of the RSV which is a revision of the ASV.  Confused?  So am I.

Video Review: "King James Only?...The Final Word" Part 4

  • 10:55 - Here the woman uses 1 Corinthians 14:6-9 as her text.  This is a key text on the use of tongues.  But once again we see her twisting the scriptures to push her anti-KJV position.  Her point is that speaking in an unknown tongue (or using the KJV) is useless if a person cannot understand it.  Therefore, a person should speak in a known (modern versions) language.  First of all, this pure assumption that a modern Christian cannot understand the KJV.  How does she know that?  Is she trying to limit the Holy Ghost?  We won't even get into the grade-level reading studies here.  Secondly, speaking in an unknown tongue is vastly different that what she is trying to compare here.  The King James Bible is not in a foreign language or tongue, it is in English.  I also notice here she doesn't reference verse 8 in this same passage.  Maybe she overlooked it...on purpose since it nails the bible version issue perfectly.  We all know the versions don't say the same thing.  Therefore, how can Christians be properly prepared for the battle if our trumpet sound is uncertain?  Are we supposed to confess our sin or our faults (James 5:16)?  Is it good for a man not to touch a woman or not to marry (1 Cor 7:1)?  Looks like the NIV is the one speaking another language, the language of the Pope.
  • 13:40 - The woman continues to babel (pun) about the KJB being hard to and understand and the archaic words.  If she had studied this issue closely she would have known that some of the language in the King James was outdated when it was originally printed in 1611.  So why wasn't all of England and the English speaking world clamoring for a new version in 1612?  It is also interesting that she specifically used the phrase hard to understand. 2 Peter 3:16, speaking of Paul's epistles, says, "As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which some things are hard to be understood..."  According to Peter, there are some things written by Paul that were hard for even him to understand; are we vain enough to think we can just skim the Bible and all these things stick out like a sore thumb?  2 Timothy 2:15 commands us to study (a command erased form this verse in the modern versions).  A quick cross reference of this word with Ecclesiastes 12:12 and we learn that much study is a weariness of the flesh.  Studying the scriptures should be work, not like reading the Wall Street Journal.
  • 15:30 - Here begins with a speech on Acts 2 and the Day of Pentecost.  She tries the same trick as she did with Paul's passage from 1 Corinthians about speaking in tongues: people should hear in their own language.  Again, same answer as last time to this stupid argument:  The King James is written in English, the native language of America.  What does she want, a dumbed down bible with street slang?  Why not buy a Webster's 1828 or learn to cross reference the King James?  Is that too much work for lazy laodicean Christians?
  • 20:24 - Here the woman begins quoting John 14:21 in a feeble attempt to prove that the only thing that matters is following the commandments of God and as long as we do that nothing else matters so we shouldn't be arguing over bible versions.  But she fails to answer a very important question: where do we find these commandments?  She, again without context, doesn't continue down to v. 23 in this passage where Jesus says, "If a man love me, he will keep my words:"  Therefore if you don't have all of the words, such as the 64,000 missing from her NIV, you cannot keep all of his commandments.
  • 21:10 - More irony!  Here she quotes Matthew 11:25 - At that time Jesus answered and said , I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.  Oh what irony.  Who are the wise and the prudent, or at least the ones that claim to be (Romans 1:22)?  The scholars; James White. Metzger, Ankerberg etc.  Us little "uniformed" lay people weren't the ones asking for a new version.  It's only the wise scholars that think they know better than the KJB.  Too funny.

Contemporary "Christian" Music

I was listening or watching a video recently (I cannot remember which) about the dangers of contemporary "Christian" music.  One of the things that really caught my attention was the video mentioned that lots of this new age music does not mention Jesus by name; but uses rather generic terms like "The One" and "You."  You might find this interesting as well.  Below are two songs for comparison; both titled I Will Praise Him.  As you can guess, one will be the old hymn of the the faith and the other the new age contemporary version.

I Will Praise Him (Hymn)

When I saw the cleansing fountain
Open wide for all my sin,
I obeyed the Spirit’s wooing,
When He said, “Wilt thou be clean?”
Refrain
I will praise Him! I will praise Him!
Praise the Lamb for sinners slain;
Give Him glory, all ye people,
For His blood can wash away each stain.
Though the way seems straight and narrow,
All I claimed was swept away;
My ambitions, plans and wishes,
At my feet in ashes lay.
Refrain
Then God’s fire upon the altar
Of my heart was set aflame;
I shall never cease to praise Him
Glory, glory to His Name!
Refrain
Blessèd be the Name of Jesus!
I’m so glad He took me in;
He’s forgiven my transgressions,
He has cleansed my heart from sin.
Refrain
Glory, glory to the Father!
Glory, glory to the Son!
Glory, glory to the Spirit!
Glory to the Three in One!

I Will Praise Him (New Age)
Since the day You called me,
I've been running like a girl that's overcome-
And I know You saw me
whip my head around when I heard You say-
"Come away with me and I am
gonna show you
a thing or two
About Love"-

And I know You're with me,
'cause I see Your hand around me all the time-
And I know you hear me,
cause You whisper words that let me know You're mine-
And now I'll never be
Alone without You and
I just want You
To know-
That I'm so in love.

{chorus}
So I will praise You in the morning, I will praise You in the day
I will praise You in the evening, I will praise
And I will praise You in the morning, I will praise You in the day
I will praise You in the evening, I will praise

And I'll be
Stealing away,
Stealing away-
...Hide me in Your
secret place
Feel Your feathers soft
upon my face...
Stealing away,
Stealing away-
Hide me in Your
secret chamber, I
Feel Your breath, I
feel Your finger
Wipe a tear from off my face
Put a smile back on my face-
-only You and I alone here in this place
and, I will praise...
You.

It's the way You cause my
Little heart to beat a million miles per-
And I nearly lost my mind
When I heard You say,
"Father, I want her"-
And now I'll never be
Alone without you, and
I just want you
To know-
That I am so in love

{chorus}
So I will praise You in the morning, I will praise You in the day
I will praise You in the evening, I will praise
And I will praise You in the morning, I will praise You in the day
I will praise You in the evening, I will praise

And now I'm
Sailing away,
Sailing away, ah,
Looking in under the veil and I never thought that
I would see
the Glory of Your face...
And now I'm
Sailing away,
Sailing away, ah,-
Who would have thought it would be
A sacrifice of praise
that brings me to this place,
and,
I will praise...

When I wake up in the morning, I
am gonna glorify Your name.
When I get into the shower, I
am gonna glorify your name.
When I do the ordinary things-
I am gonna glorify Your name,
If I dine with emperors and kings-
I am gonna glorify Your name...

I will praise Your Name...
Glorify Your Name...
I will praise You,
I will praise You, I will
Glorify
Your Name-...
I'm gonna glorify
Your Name.

{chorus}
And I will praise You in the morning, I will praise You in the day
I will praise You in the evening, I will praise
And I will praise You in the morning, I will praise You in the day
I will praise You in the evening, I will praise

And I'll be
Stealing away,
Stealing away-
...Hide me in Your
secret place
Feel Your feathers soft
upon my face...
Stealing away,
Stealing away-
Hide me in Your secret chamber, I
Feel Your breath, I feel Your finger
Wipe a tear from off my face
Put a smile back on my face-
-only You and I alone here in this place
and, I will praise...
You.

Now that you've seen both, do you think that is as weird as I do?  Not one time in that entire song is the Lord mentioned by name.  Who is "You"?  Does anything else standout to you about some of the lyrics besides that?

Beware "Christian" Bookstores

What's wrong with Christian bookstores these days?  Well first and foremost, there is more heresy and blasphemy in them than in your local First Church of Satan.  There are so many things moving into the church these days, which was begun by watered down music and bible perversions, and one of the more popular ones coming through the emergent church is ancient mysticism in the form of Loyola's labyrinth and contemplative prayer.  Don't believe me?  Check out this book that can be found in my local "Christian" bookstore.

Video Review: "King James Only?...The Final Word" Part 3

  • 3:00 - At this point Hebrews 4:12 rolls across the screen.  She uses this verse to somehow explain Matthew 25:32-33; the dividing of the sheep and the goats.  She uses this as a picture of Jesus dividing the church between the true followers (sheep) from the backslidden CEO (Christmas, Easter, One other time) Christians or goats.  In other words, Jesus is dividing the bible agnostics (sheep) from the KJV Onlyists (goats).  This is a devilish and subtil (pun intended) attack on bible believers which she fails to provide any proof for and she also twists the scriptures to make her point.  First of all, the sheep and the goats are the saved and the unsaved respectively.  Secondly, the events being spoken of in this passage in Matthew take place at the second coming: the Body of Christ has already been raptured and will return with him at his coming (Song of Sol 6:4,10; Jude 14-15; Rev 19:14).  However, if one want to try to spiritualize the passage, which she obviously does, you still have a problem; verses 41&46 say the goats are cast into hell.  It goes without saying who she is trying to paint as the goats.  So is she saying KJV Onlyists are going to get cast into hell?
  • 4:30 - The woman continues to babel (pun intended) about the division in the Body of Christ being created by Satan using the bible version issue, and I agree with her.  But she still doesn't explain how the people using a 400 year old English book are the ones responsible for that division.  It is also interesting that the 2nd half of 1 Tim 6:20 pops up on the screen as a proof of her point (she uses it from the revision of the failed ASV aka NASV, be we will quote it from the AV): "avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:"  Isn't textual criticism a science?  Oh, the irony!
  • 6:00 - Here she says we must prove all things by the scriptures.  Sounds good, right?  Especially for us Baptists since we were the original Sola Scriptura-ists.  But...she is really building a straw man.  She is attempting to prove that because the scriptures don't specifically state KJV Only then we don't have to be and shouldn't be KJV Only.  I think she realized the stupidity of this argument because she trys to defend it by saying that God is very specific about other things so if he wanted to be specific about this he would have.  If this wasn't so sad it might actually be funny. I'd love to be with her and see her witness to a Catholic by saying their church is in error because the word "pope" doesn't appear in the bible.  Of course, if the bible did specifically say "King James Only", would she seriously expect to find it in the NIV or NASV she reads from?  Nevertheless we should ask her a question: can she shows us where the bible says the NIV is a good translation; or the NASV, or the ESV, or any other version?
  • 7:58 - 2 Tim 2:14 is used here as a reference and a proof that we should not argue about words.  This is yet another private interpretation and twisting of scripture.  This passage is dealing with heresy in the church.  In v. 15 Paul instructs Timothy to study (a command missing in almost all the modern versions) and rightly divide the word of truth.  If this woman is saying the "words" of v.14 is the word of God, then why would Timothy need to study and rightly divide if we aren't to argue over words?  Clearly Paul is telling Timothy to study and rightly divide so that he will not produce heretical words, false interpretations from twisting the scriptures as do the words of Hymenaeus and Philetus who's words eat as a canker and have overthrown the faith of some (have any bible believers had their faith in the Bible by "scholars" and false teachers teaching their is no perfect scriptures?).  This passage is paralleled in Titus 3:9-11.  Again, more wresting with the scriptures and private interpretations.

Video Review: "King James Only?...The Final Word" Part 2

  • 1:05 - We should mention here the use of the term "King James Version."  While it is common today for us to use the term, from our research, we find that this term was not widely used until the modern versions came upon the scene.  We have looked at books by old-time preachers and scholars including Billy Sunday, Dean Burgeon, etc. and it seems the King James is mostly referred to simply as the Bible or the Authorised Version.  Only on occasion have we found the term "King James" used.  While we have no problem with the use of the title today, it is important to understand why this may have popped up into the mainstream.  In Acts 11:26 we are first called Christians.  This term was labeled to these believers as a negative, because they were following some man named Christ.  One of the most common things of liberals in a debate they are losing is create a man for your position to follow.  By painting this as the King James Onlyism, that allows them to attack King James' Version because it is merely a man-made version.  As we also know these modern versions have big marketing budgets behind them from major publishers.  But think about it for a second; how hard would it be to sell your "bible" in the marketplace against something called the Authorized Version?  Immediately calling it the King James Version lowers its level down to the others and makes unsuspecting believers gullible to the lies.  This gives rise to more old recirculated lies about King James being a sodomite, an Anglican or a Freemason.  Anyway, just recognize the marketing and liberal bait-and-switch tactics.
  • 1:47 - Here the woman gives the assertion of that Bible believers believes the King James is the ONLY holy word of God.  She does not explain herself as to whether she means the only English Bible or the only Bible in the whole world.  Personally, I don't know any Bible believer that believes a French speaking person or Spanish speaking person should not have a Bible in their own language.  In fact, they had Bible's from the pure text before the King James.  She also fails to give any proof of her assertion which is common for most of her arguments in this video.
  • 2:08 - Here she says that people that subscribe to the KJV Only position generally condemn anybody that uses any other translation.  I assume she means English translations.  She also does not really define what she means by condemn: does she mean simply disagree and rebuke their use of modern perversions, or does she mean announce a popish-style anathema?  She goes on to say that pastors and teachers that instruct their people to be KJV Only are wrong because it causes division in the Body of Christ.  Another common argument and common debate tactic.  But their are two problems with this thinking: 1)The AV was around before the modern versions so if anyone caused a division who was it? 2)Given the responsibility of a bishop or pastor, if he believes that the AV is the best translation, for whatever reason, why would he tell his congregation to use something when the best can be had?  But that's what this video is for; to straighten out your pastor and usurp authority over the man (1 Tim 2:12).
